Super friendly staff and great service. The wagyu was tasty, though a little salty for my preference. The seafood rice was amazing, easily my favorite dish. Really enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. It does get pretty lively inside, so you might need to speak up a bit.

Always a vibe. Service was impeccable and food was perfect. Originally my party of 2 sat at a 4-top. About 10 mins in, the manager asked if he could move us to a 2-top to accommodate a larger party. I don't hesitate as the 2-top was in an area with less foot traffic. The manager comped a charcuterie board appetizer and a round of drinks for the inconvenience despite me insisting it was better for us. Incredibly gracious and I appreciated the gesture. Munched on the charcuterie board, then followed with patatas bravas, broccolini, and gambas before olive oil cake for dessert. Do NOT sleep on the olive oil cake.

Great vibe, great tapas and a wide selection of drinks, what more can you ask for. Had a wide range of tapas, but the best items were the albondigas, croquetas, and the patatas. They were the meatballs, fried ball of jamon and manchego (the best item on the menu) and the potatoes which were topped in a delicious sauce. Honestly happy hour is the best time to go before it gets quite loud and the deals they have are excellent. You can order 3 items for 14.5 dollars and we found it worth while as well as some cheap martinis to sip on. We also tried the salmon crudo which was a bit too salty for me. The shrimp and empanadas are also excellent, the shrimp are soaked in a delicious garlic sauce while the empanadas are perfectly cooked with a delicious inner filling. I’ve been here prior and the food was delicious and nothing had changed since then. Highly recommend you get reservations if you’re going late at night.

Barcelona Wine Bar is one of the best DC happy hour spots if you’re craving tapas and great cocktails. I visited for their afternoon happy hour (which is rare to find in DC), and it genuinely felt like a mini trip to Spain. I ordered the mini espresso martini with Irish cream and a chamomile cosmo both were well-balanced, smooth, and not overly sweet. The tapas-style bites are perfect for sharing, making this a great option for date night, girls’ night, or a casual group dinner. The atmosphere has that warm, cozy European vibe while still feeling lively and social. If you’re looking for a DC happy hour with strong cocktails, small plates, and a great ambiance, Barcelona Wine Bar is definitely worth adding to your list. I’ll absolutely be back to try more.

My husband and I had our Valentine’s Day celebration at Barcelona and it was an exceptional experience. We knew it would be chaotic that evening, and we braved the crowd of walk-ins at the host stand, but we were seated within two minutes of our reservation time, which was a first good sign. Our table was in the middle of the dining room, usually not an ideal place for us, but our servers Will and Maria were immediately and consistently warm, friendly, and attentive all throughout the evening, and we felt like we had an ideal table in the end. The food was delicious (tapas and paella), our wine fabulous. Regional Manager Ian stopped by to chat, and seemed genuinely interested in us, which impressed us. In all, thank you for making this couple of old gay guys feel welcome and special.
